What’s Coming to Netflix in January 2020

We’ve witnessed such an amazing year with Netflix in 2019. All subscribers got to see quality TV shows and originals, including the likes of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Season 2), Lucifer, and let’s not forget, The Witcher. However, what happens on December 31st when the clock ticks 12? Well, Netflix already covered that. January 2020 is going to be a stellar month and I’ve already got you the first batch of Netflix titles due for release in the first month of 2020. Let’s check them out together.

Netflix January 2020 Releases

Netflix January 2020 – The Upcoming Releases

So, are you excited about what Netflix has in stores for you in the first month of 2020? During my research, there were a few rumors about possible titles that may hit the streaming service in January.

One of them is the highly anticipated (personal favorite), Haunting on Hill House season 2. Technically, it won’t be called that, it will be Haunting of Bly Manor, which is also a true story with chilling events.

Furthermore, it’s also rumored that Money Heist / La Casa De Papel has been pegged for a January 2020 release date of its fourth season. We don’t know if it’s true or not, but fans would definitely hope so.

We also have the sixth and final season of Grace & Frankie. This one is going to be bittersweet as we all love the show, but we’re going to say goodbye in January 2020. No official release date has been set, but it’s definitely going to be during the first month next year.

With that covered, let’s talk about some of the officially announced titles. That way, I’ll be giving you a head start before you start your New Year’s Countdown.

Anne with an E (Season 3 – January 3rd)

If you thought the first two seasons were dramatic, wait till the third one arrives at the streaming giant’s library. The season’s story will talk about Anne’s entry into the world of Green Gables.

Both of the previous seasons were very much praised and loved by subscribers. And trust me, the show won’t stop providing what the audience is expecting from in. It’s going to be interesting.

Anne will be celebrating her sixteenth birthday. But what does that mean? When you grow up, you look back at your previous years. However, with Anne, she starts to remember stuff from the past she wasn’t anticipating at all.

So far, it’s confirmed that it will air on CBC by the end of 2019. Netflix subscribers will expect it on the date mentioned. So, if you live in Canada, you’ll be tuning into the drama ahead of everybody else.

Nothing is clear up till now, we have to wait until January 3rd, 2020 to find out what the show has in stores for us. Don’t forget, the third season of the show will be the last. Until then, check the official trailer below, maybe you’ll get a thing or two from it.

AJ and the Queen (Season 1 – January 10th)

When RuPaul says that she’s a super queen, make sure she doesn’t tell a lie. Rupaul’s Drag Race UK just crowned a queen, now we have the 12th season of the original show and the 5th of its All-Stars counterpart.

But how can RuPaul manage all these shows at once? One simple sentence, She’s a Super Queen. The drag legend/Emmy winner is starring in the upcoming Netflix original, AJ and the Queen.

It’s created by both RuPaul and Michael Patrick King. In case you’re not familiar with King, make sure you re-watch HBO’s Sex and the City and The Comeback.

RuPaul will play the role of Robert Lee, a.k.a. Ruby Red. She is traveling the world in the 1990s with a career in drag. She has hopes and dreams of finally opening her own drag club.

Ruby was forced to pick up her life’s pieces and hit the road after being swindled by Segarra and his partner in crime Carrere. Now, she’s doing shows to get what she lost in terms of money. She then meets AJ, an orphan who doesn’t lack cockiness and confidence at all.

With the two traveling together, you’re guaranteed a funny and epic adventure you’ll never forget. Stay tuned, the show airs on Netflix come January 10th, 2020.

Do you want to take a look at Ruby Red? Here’s a proper introduction.

A Fall From Grace (January 17th)

Forget about Madea, Tyler Perry is making his Netflix debut in the upcoming thriller “A Fall From Grace.” The new Netflix original will revolve around Grace Waters, a pillar of her Virginia community.

The story will tell how she stays composed after her son moves away and her ex-husband marries his mistress. For once in her life, she tries to pull herself together and think of no one but Grace Waters (Herself). Her best friend Sarah is always next to her. As the events move on, Grace meets her second love from out of nowhere.

But what does this handsome stranger have in stores for her? Well, according to the synopsis, her new husband destroys her life, work, and even her sanity.

Now, she’s lying in a cell awaiting trial for his murder. Her only hope is Jasmine Bryant, a public defender who takes on a case for the first time. How reliable can Jasmine be? Is Grace truly guilty of her new husband’s death? Find out when A Fall from Grace takes on the Netflix screen on January 17th, 2020.

So far, there’s no official trailer for A Fall From Grace, but as soon as one is released, you’ll be the first to watch it. Stay tuned and keep on visiting this page for more updates.

Ares (Season 1 – January 17th)

Supernatural/horror shows are my favorite genre. The first-ever Dutch fully-produced show by Netflix is coming to your streaming library on January 17th, 2020.

The series is filmed in Amsterdam, and based on what I’ve seen, it’s really creepy. Ares will consist of 8 episodes, which takes you right into the world of Ares.

Ares is a secret student society in Amsterdam where Rosa and Jacob fall victim to the world of wealth and power. However, what they don’t know yet, but soon realize that they’re in a demonic place full of secrets from The Netherland’s past.

Do you want power? Then you should pay a terrible price for you. The series cast are no strangers to TV in the Netherlands. Check them out below:

  • Jade Olieberg
  • Tobias Kersloot
  • Lisa Smit
  • Robin Boissevain
  • Frieda Barnhard

Now that you know what to expect from the series, I really want to show you this terrifying trailer that got me all hyped up to see the show come January 17th.

What’s Leaving Netflix in January 2020

You gain some, you lose some, that’s how any streaming service works. No matter how rich the upcoming library is, Netflix has to make some space for what’s coming. And to do so, it has to let go of some of the existing ones. As hard as it is to see the following titles depart, changes have to be made. So, here are the titles leaving your Netflix catalog, come January 2020:

  • Becoming Jane
  • The Fighter
  • Maron: Season 1-4
  • Forks Over Knives
  • The Rezort
  • Short Term 12
  • Æon Flux
  • American Psycho
  • Good Luck Chuck
  • Grease
  • La Reina del Sur: Season 1
  • Panic Room
  • Revolutionary Road
  • Something’s Gotta Give

Netflix January 2020 Arrivals – Final Words

As 2019 is coming to the end, Netflix can’t get any bigger. So far, it has more than 158 subscribers around the world. If the Netflix originals keep coming at this rate with this type of quality, I’m pretty sure that the numbers will skyrocket soon.
