I can’t get it to work, I’m in the UK and it was working fine with Express VPN since Monday and now today, it’s not working. I’ve updated my software and my Express VPN app.
Hello Emma. Try setting your device’s timezone to Australia and see if that helps.
They have stopped it altogether now if you use a VPN . This is what they told me .

At the moment, 9Now is only licensed to operate with in Australia. This means unfortunately that you will be blocked from watching Channel 9 live or Nine shows on demand as you’re in …………..
We no longer allow the use of VPNs with 9Now due to licensing laws.
Well, it depends on which VPN you’re using as some have their IP’s blacklisted by Channel 9.
To unblock channel 9, I use PureVPN for a smooth and fast experience. Its great to unblock any stream online.
Nine Live works on NORD but on demand will not from UK
Looks like they have made changes to detect if you are on VPN. On demand does not work but live does. Nine support have indicated they only check for on demand.
Something to remember is that if you are using your phone or tablet, channel nine only allows you to watch via the ninenow app. The ninenow app is only avail in the Australian App store and it don’t allow you to change stores easily (and when you do you’ll lose access to your local store) so you’ll need the VPN on your desk top computer/laptop where you can watch on the nine website.

You can also switch to “full site” or “desktop site” and bypass the hastle of changes to your app store or play account. Just go to the three dots in the top right corner of the browsee

Strange. I’m using Nordvpn and for me channel9 works fine.
On IPVanish and I too have the issue with being able to stream live but geoblocked for on demand video. Appears to be on the Brightcove side which is hosting the videos. Just haven’t yet pinpointed what data is being sent from 9now to determine location.
hi ya…got express vpn and can change to this Australia no problem…on the Melbourne server now. However now9 channel web registation or apple app store requires you to register – given I’m in NZ…how do you register, it still says your not in Australia so you cannot use 9now. I just downloaded ExpressVPN tried Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane but none are working. I have tried on Mozilla, Chrome and Explorer, cleared caches on each one then loaded again, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Another short note, Express VPN is working for me. But was not initially, when choosing the Melbourne server. Only once I chose Brisbane.

Hello, I was so glad to have stumbled upon your page! I am also an expat (living in Canada), and up until about a week ago I have been able to stream my show on 9NOW using ExpressVPN. Now when I try to do so it comes up with this “This video is restricted from playing in your current geographic region”… Have you experienced this? How can I get around it?

Express VPN is good and have accessed nine australia from NZ but recently I haven’t been able to access. I wonder if they have upgraded their block or something. I tried changing my time & region to Aust & deleting cookies & search history but no success.
Hi Don. I’ve just tried it out and was able to watch 9Now live and on-demand outside Australia using ExpressVPN. Try connecting to different Australian VPN servers from within the ExpressVPN app and see if that makes a difference. Alternatively, try using a different browser. Also make sure you have disabled any ad-blockers in your browser.
