First off, you don’t need to create a new Prime Video account. You can use your existing account to unblock American Amazon Instant Video. The only thing you need is Smart DNS. This allows you to trick Amazon into thinking you currently reside in USA. Here’s how to setup Smart DNS to change your Prime Video region to USA.
- Head over to Unlocator and sign up for a free 7-day trial.
- Follow these setup guides and videos to configure Unlocator Smart DNS on your streaming device. PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PS4, Roku, Smart TV, and Amazon Fire TV are all supported.
- Now, don’t go to your local Prime Video website. Instead, go to the American Amazon Prime site.

I’m using NordVPN. After switching to LA/Atlanta, Prime Video still detects the VPN and blocks content until I turn it off.
My VPN is set for Atlanta, but I can’t watch Prime video. It’s giving me the location error message.
Which VPN service provider are you using? Have you tried connecting to a different US VPN server?
Can we try this using amazon fire tv ( 3rd Gen)
Yes, it works on Amazon Fire TVs as well.
Don’t you need a separate Amazon Prime account for each country? eg A UK Amazon Prime account is needed to view in UK only and will not work in the USA?
Which DNS allows me to switch Netflix locations? My current DNS only allows me to watch US Netflix and I’d rather watch UK Netflix cos there are so many British TV series’ not available on the US site.
Thanks
I can’t seem to get this working. I have an ipad 2 on which this procedure works. I just purchased a Lenovo Yoga with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in Canada and just cannot seem to get around the blocking. The Amazon Prime App somehow seems locked to Canada. Could it be something to do with Google Play Store, which seems always to be in Canada if with various different VPN attempts. I was excited to get away from Apple but may actually “cave” and keep them around :(. Any ideas?
Hi Laurie. Tried uninstalling your current Amazon Prime Video app and then change your Google Play Store region to USA as instructed here https://thevpn.guru/change-google-play-store-region-country-vpn-help
Once done, download Amazon Prime again.
Thanks for trying to help but i guess security is really tight. i tried the above, both methods as well as removing all address and payment info from amazon and readding a US address…. but WOW getting no where. Chrome on the android is complaining about the VPN being an insecure certificate when i try to access Amazon.com directly…. so that makes me assume that i am at least on the VPN correctly, plus I am able to access US netflix.
